Not to allow a mountainous obstacle to get in the way of playing with the bigger kids, a toddler will use determination and perseverance to overcome anything in his way. Children look to us as an example of how to act and what to be when they grow up. They see us as courageous and strong, responsible and often times indestructible. Having the opportunity to watch children play, we see there are times when some of these traits can be stronger in them.
I brought my camera with me on this morning with a different plan, but life has it’s way of showing you something far more meaningful and beautiful. A symbolic microcosm of life’s peaks and valleys, inspiring in the simplest and purest of ways and emotionally sweet. I’m thankful for the moment we were given. The feeling of hard-fought triumph and the importance of never giving up, no matter the odds.
Shot in San Diego near the Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach, California. The song is “Anchor (Instrumental)” by indie folk singer Mindy Gledhill. Special thanks to the kids! Shot with a hacked Panasonic GH2 (Aquamotion V2) and Sigma 50mm 1.4 prime.
A short journey through art history on the food express. I was approached by an artist to make this video for some local contests she wanted to enter. Her original idea was to re-create the masterpieces with live action, but didn't realize what goes in to that. Plus her timeline was a little over a week. With that, I quickly figured I could get her something in that timeframe if I used some creativity and After Effects.
Over the last few years, it's been hilarious eavesdropping on our four year-old Hazen asking Siri to look things up for him. Poor little guy's success rate is almost zero, but his frustration is now captured in video for our enjoyment. It's hard enough when you don't pronounce R's yet, but even more difficult when stuffing your face with bread. Good luck, Z-Man and keep trying so I can continually get a kick out of the outrageous responses from Apple's confused personal assistant. Shot for fun by dad and son.
In a year where it may have rained once in San Diego, the much-needed storm brought a lot of water to our area over the past few days. My four year-old and I took full advantage of it by seeking out some of the best puddles we could find. My boy and I decided to make this video for fun. I brought along a GoPro and my iPhone6 to capture the joy that comes with puddle jumping for children. Some intro shots were my GH4.
