Adaptation is an important word.

Adaptation is an important word.

Adaptation is an under-used word in an designer’s profile. It should be one of the first. One of the main things an artist should always be ready for is a change in direction. After all isn’t that mostly what art is for? To inspire and influence? Many times it’s the art itself that prompts such a change and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. An artist or designer should be prepared to have their focus shifted dramatically during any project and not be surprised when it happens.

Yes, I agree you must be able to evolve, change and adapt to survive. Darwin Design or something.

as someone who owns a clothing company and works with artists all the time, this is one of the best pieces of advice one can get…there is nothing more frustrating than working with an artists on a design and running into inflexibility…its a sure way to not get any more work from a client
